Bets and stakes [1/3]

Basic rules must be understood before getting to know the other types of bets that can be made in Craps.

Brief summary for a better understanding of Craps, with a description of the other possible bets or basic stakes, along with more complex stakes.

PASS or Front Line

Fairly interesting bet that most players make. House edge is insignificant (about 1.40%).
This bet will enable you to get your bearings in Craps before making other types of bets.
Bet is made before the come-out roll. Can be raised. Cannot be withdrawn.
Wins on come-out roll and payed 1/1 if the player rolls a 7 or 11.
Loses if player rolls a 2, 3 or 12. This is called "to make a Craps".
If player rolls a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, this is a "point".
Player rolls dice again as soon as the point is established, and tries to establish another point or to roll 7.
If a point is made before the player gets 7, the stake wins. Otherwise it loses.
Payed 1/11 if the point is established, and lost if player rolls 7.
The stake is withdrawn as soon as the bet is won or lost.
Some casinos allow a Pass line even if a number has already been rolled. In this case the player might be in a disadvantage, since chances to win on the come-out roll are higher. On the other hand, for later rolls, winning odds diminish.

DON'T PASS

Also called "Black line" or bad better: one person wins while the others lose. This bet is the opposite of the Pass line bet. The bet is laid on the Don't pass line. Bet is made before the come-out roll. Can be lowered or withdrawn.
The stake wins and is payed 1/1 on come-out roll if player rolls a 2 or 3.
The bet is lost if 7 or 11 are rolled.
If 12 is rolled, there is equality of bets (in other words, the player takes back his or her stake).
If 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 are rolled, a point is established.
The player rolls the dice again as soon as the point is established, and tries to establish another point or to get 7.
If a point is established before 7 is rolled, the stake is lost. Otherwise it is won.
