Martingale principle on games of chance

In the world of the games of chance, many techniques are used by players trying to improve their chances of winning a jackpot, while minimizing their losses. These techniques are called Martingales.

The Martingale method is simple and popular, and its principle depends on the type of game concerned. It is known that the Martingale remains a mystery for many, which makes many think that certain players use secret techniques "to cheat" and apply their methods for winning a jackpot very quickly… Obviously this it is not the case, because that would be known.

It is known that Martingales are not completely reliable; however there are techniques which make it possible for players to win by associating what is called "amounts" and "financial management".

Explanation: The amounts – which are also called "progressions" - are methods which consist in doubling the bets after each failure in order to recover the associated losses, or at least, starting from those. Financial management consists on betting a certain percentage of the sum which the player wants to risk.

The Large Martingale

The principle is the same one as for the Martingale. The player doubles its bet on each loss by adding a token to it.

The traditional Martingale

This is the most known and most used method in the world, but also the simplest. Each time a player loses, it doubles its bet. If it loses again, it bets the initial sum - doubled - and so on, until it wins. In this case, it recovers its losses and the initial bet. The danger with this method is that the bets go up relatively quickly. Attention should be paid not to reach cap, since in this case the player cannot recover its initial bet. A little practice is necessary so that this strategy is beneficial and knowing which limits must not be exceeded is imperative.

Other Martingales

There are also other types of Martingales: Dutch martingale, Piquemouche, d'Alembert, Alembert reverse, Spade-in Alembert, etc….These Martingales are derived from the Classic Martingale or the Large Martingale.

In the Alembert Martingale, the player doubles its bet each time it loses, until it wins. This Martingale, theoretically sure, depends on the amount which the bets must not exceed, but also by the need of betting a lot of money to end up winning a little. An alternative of this Martingale is to play an important bet after each loss and a weaker bet after each win.

In the Dutch martingale, for example, this simple and safe technique makes it possible to gain in all rounds, within a more or less long time.

The Spade-in d'Alembert Martingale, regarded as best with roulette, is the simplest to use and memorize. When the player loses, it increase its bet by a token, and when it wins, it decreases its bet by a token etc….The principle of the reverse Alembert Martingale is the same one of the Spade-in d'Alembert, except that it is reversed: the player increases his bet by a token when it wins, and on the other hand, if it loses it decreases his bet by a token.
